Purpose
This article explains how to resolve the "Unable to create document" error in Respondus 4.
Background
Respondus 4 may prompt users with an error stating, “Unable to create document.”
This can be resolved by moving the Respondus Projects file from its default location to another location on the computer.
If this is your work computer, you'll need to submit a ticket to the Help Desk. You probably won’t be able to complete all of the steps, and your Respondus 4 software may also need to be updated.

Procedure
Relocate the Respondus Projects folder
Close Respondus 4.
Open your Windows File Explorer.
Locate the Respondus Projects folder. By default, it will be named Respondus Projects.
Check the folder contents to be certain that this is the correct folder. The Respondus Projects folder will contain files such as: .rsp files, the spell checker files (.tlx, .clx) and settings files (.set), and so forth.
Copy or move the Respondus Projects folder to the computer's Documents folder on the computer.
Do not create a blank Respondus Projects folder!
Update Respondus 4
In Respondus 4, click on File > Preferences > General tab.
Click on the Update button and navigate to the new location of the Respondus Projects folder, which should now be inside your Documents folder.
