At Codeable, your privacy and security are important to us.
In some cases, an expert may request access to review your current setup, better understand the issue, and prepare a tailored proposal.
Credential Vault is a secure feature inside each Codeable project workroom that lets you share sensitive information (such as logins and passwords) with the expert(s) working on your project.
You can update what you share, change which expert(s) have access, or delete the Vault at any time.
Step 1: Create your Credential Vault
Open your project workroom (each project has its own unique URL, e.g. https://app.codeable.io/tasks/11111).
In the right-hand panel of the workroom, scroll down until you see CREATE VAULT.
(The scrollbar may be hidden, but it will appear as you scroll.)Click CREATE VAULT.
If you can’t locate the button, try using a different browser or contact our support team for help.
The image below shows where to find the Vault in your workroom.
Step 2: Add credentials and share them with your expert(s)
In the Vault window:
Add the information you’d like to share (URLs, usernames, passwords, and any notes your expert may need).
Create a Vault PIN. This PIN adds an extra layer of security. Your Vault PIN is only for you and is not shared with experts.
Select the expert(s) you want to share the Vault with.
Click CREATE VAULT to save.
Click Close to return to your workroom.
Manage your Credential Vault (view, update, or delete)
You can open your Credential Vault at any time to:
view saved credentials
update or replace information
change which expert(s) can access it
delete the Vault permanently
Deleting the Vault is useful when your project is complete, or if you’ve forgotten your Vault PIN and need to create a new Vault.
Troubleshooting
Why am I being asked for my Vault PIN?
Simply enter your Vault PIN to continue.
This usually happens if:
you’re using a different device or browser than the one you used to create the Vault, or
your browser’s local storage was cleared.
Why am I seeing strange characters in the Vault?
This can happen if the Vault is unlocked using an incorrect PIN. which may cause the credentials to appear unreadable to you and to expert(s).
To fix this, enter the correct Vault PIN. If you can’t remember it, you need to delete the Vault and create a new one.
I forgot my Vault PIN — what can I do?
For security reasons, Vault PINs cannot be recovered.
If you no longer remember your Vault PIN, delete the Vault and create a new one.
