How do I assign supporting documents?

Learn how to upload, process, and assign documents to deliverables in Cognibuild.

Supporting documents are uploaded to your project and assigned to deliverables to provide context for AI-generated outputs.

Once processed, these documents are used by Cognibuild when running tasks.

Uploading supporting documents

Supporting documents are uploaded within the Supporting Documents section of a project.

You can upload files such as:

  • Project briefs

  • Reports and studies

  • Specifications

  • Planning documents

  • Other relevant project materials

These documents provide the context used to generate deliverables.

Document processing

After upload, Cognibuild processes each document so it can be used by the AI.

  • Once complete, the document is marked Ready for AI

  • Only processed documents can be used when generating outputs

This step ensures the platform can correctly analyse and use your files.

Assigning documents to deliverables

Supporting documents can be assigned to specific deliverables.

When assigned:

  • The AI uses those documents when generating outputs

  • Outputs are tailored to the selected project context

Assigning relevant documents helps ensure accuracy and consistency in your documentation.

Supported document types

Cognibuild currently uses text-based content from supporting documents.

  • Text within documents is analysed and used for generation

  • Images are not currently read or interpreted

You can still upload documents that contain images, but only the text content within those documents will be used.

When a document is not ready

If a document does not process successfully:

  • It will not be marked Ready for AI

  • It will not be used when running tasks

In this case, you may need to re-upload the file or check that it is supported and correctly formatted.

Using documents with AI

Once a document is marked Ready for AI and assigned to a deliverable, it becomes part of the context used when running tasks.

Providing relevant supporting documents improves the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of generated outputs.
