What are projects, stage cards, and Key Deliverables?

Cognibuild organises your work into a clear structure. Understanding it helps you set a project up the way it actually runs.

A project is your workspace for a single piece of work, such as a real development or construction project. Everything to do with that work lives inside it: your supporting documents, your Key Deliverables, and the stage cards that organise them. Keeping it all in one project keeps it connected and easy to manage.

Within a project, work is organised using stage cards. A stage card marks where you are in the project. The word "stage" can mean a RIBA stage, or simply a phase of your project. In Cognibuild, a stage card is the part of the app that holds the Key Deliverables for that point in the work.

You are not limited to a fixed number. You can add one stage card per stage, several for a single phase, or as many as the project needs. Arranging stage cards is how you build the workflow of a project, laying out its phases the way your work actually progresses.

Inside a stage card, you work with Key Deliverables, the bodies of professional work a project needs, such as a Project Brief, a Feasibility Study, or a Planning strategy. Each Key Deliverable is built from tasks, organised into groups, which you select and run to produce structured output. You produce a Key Deliverable by assigning your supporting documents, choosing the work you want, and running it.

Supporting documents are the materials you upload for Cognibuild to work from, such as reports, briefs, specifications, drawings, and notes. They are stored within the project and assigned to the Key Deliverables they relate to, providing the evidence your output is built on.

As you work, Cognibuild lets you mark progress for your own tracking. You can approve tasks once you are happy with them, approve a completed Key Deliverable, and sign off a stage card when its work is done. This is internal progress-tracking, a way for you and your team to see what is finished and what is still in progress, rather than any official or external certification. It helps a project move forward while keeping visibility of what has been completed.
