Text-to-Speech turns written content into audio, letting users listen instead of read. Whether you're multitasking, commuting, or simply prefer audio, TTS makes engaging with content easier and more flexible.

Note: This feature is only available for Content and Survey activity templates, and works across both mobile and web apps.

Benefits of using text-to-speech

  1. Supports Multitasking - Allows users to consume content while commuting, exercising, or performing other tasks.

  2. Reduces Screen Fatigue - Offers an alternative to screen-based reading, giving users a break from prolonged screen time.

  3. Improves Accessibility- Helps users with visual impairments, dyslexia, or other reading difficulties access content more easily

  4. Encourages Inclusive Design - Aligns with accessibility best practices (e.g., WCAG), making your app more inclusive and user-friendly

How it works

Once enabled, the Listen button will appear at the top of every page in the activity on both mobile and web app.

  1. Tap the Listen button to enable the audio controller.

  2. Use the audio controller to play, pause, or skip through the content

Audio can be paused anytime and it will resume from the same sentence once audio is resumed by pressing “play”.

Pressing "skip" will move to the next available content block, excluding any external media or image files

Pressing “stop” will reset the playback to the start of the page.
