Overview

The Favourite Activities dashboard widget displays usersโ€™ favourited activities on the home page of the app, in a list or gallery view. For the widget to function, the Favourites feature (located in Settings) must first be turned on and configured.

๐Ÿ“Œ This widget is available for both mobile and web applications.

Step 1: Turn on Favourites in Settings

1. In Cogniss Creator, navigate to Settings in the left sidebar.

2. Scroll down until you locate the Activities setting. Enable Use favorites and click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

For further information on configuring this setting, please refer to the How to use Favourites article.

Step 2: Add the Favourite Activities widget to your Dashboard

1. In Cogniss Creator, navigate to Dashboard in the left sidebar.

2. Click on Add new widget in the top right of the page.

3. In the Dashboard widgets library, search for the Favourite Activities widget and click Add. Return to the Dashboard by clicking on the cross in the top right.

4. The Favourite Activities widget will now be on your Dashboard and ready for you to configure as needed.

5. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Configure the Favourite Activities widget

1. In Widget label you can enter a custom title to display in your app e.g., Reading List, Save for Later. It's important to note that if you've already updated the label in the Use favorites setting there is no need to add a label here. However, if you add a label here that differs from the label used in the setting, this label will be the one that appears in the Favourite Activities widget. If no label is added in either field, the default label My favorite activities will appear in your app.

2. You can enable Randomise list order if you would like to randomise the order of favourited activities displayed in the widget each time a user returns to the home page of the app.

3. You can enable Show icon with widget label to display an icon alongside your widget title. The default favourites icon is a star but if you would like to use a custom icon you can upload your designs for a default unselected icon and selected icon in Use favorites, which can be found in Settings under Activities. The recommended size for the favourites icon is 96x96 pixels.

4. You can enable Show random activities when no favourites are selected to display random activities if a user hasn't favourited any activities in your app,

5. For mobile applications only, you can enable Layout to choose how favourite activities are displayed in your app. Click on the dropdown menu and select from List or Gallery to match your preferred layout. When selecting the Gallery layout, you are able to choose a colour as a background for the favourite activity.

6. Once you have updated the widget, click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

7. Open your app to preview the Favourite Activities widget and to test that it works as expected.
