ESM common business questions

Ecommerce sales management is designed to help you answer strategic and tactical questions about your business. Below is a list of some common questions that can be answered with simple workflows in our platform.

What is under/over performing from the prior year?

Navigate to Business Overview.

Select the date range to analyze.

Change the comparison period to Year Over Year.

Click Apply.

The Top Movers section will show Top Gainers and Top Movers.

The default metric is Ordered Product Sales, but this can be changed.

Results can be grouped by Category, Business Unit, Product Line, etc.

Are there any short term sales trends that require my attention?

Navigate to Recommendations.

To view SKUs with downturn in sales, click on Sales Drop.

This shows SKUs with sales decline, along with insights in the Reason column and supporting metrics.

Navigate back to Recommendations.

Click on Sales Increase to view SKUs with increased sales.

This page also includes insights into the reason for the increase.

What products are currently OOS and why?

Navigate to Recommendations.

Filter down to Operations.

Click on Unavailable SKUs.

View all SKUs marked as out of stock.

See data like current units at Amazon, weeks of cover, and last PO issued.

What products are predicted to go OOS?

Navigate to Recommendations.

Filter to Operations.

Click on Predicted OOS.

View SKUs trending toward out of stock, based on supply & velocity.

See Opportunity to Buy suggestions to replenish.

Which SKUs should I run a promotion on that will generate highest ROI?

Navigate to SKUs.

Change the report to Price and Promotions.

The report flow will now show a breakdown of current pricing and promotional information on the listings, as well as a price elasticity column that will show you how responsive those products are to promotional pricing.

What products are suppressed by the retailer and why?

Navigate to Recommendations.

Filter to Operations.

Click on Unavailable SKUs.

Click on Add Filter next to “Type”.

Select Suppressed.

The page will now show all currently suppressed listings from the last platform refresh.

What products am I losing the buy box on?

Navigate to Recommendations.

Filter down to Operations.

Click on Lost Buy Box.

This page shows listings currently losing the buy box, along with details like buy box winner, Amazon’s price, and seller’s price.

What products could use content enhancements?

Navigate to Content Scorecard.

This provides a report on SKUs and content completeness (title, description, bullet points, images, reviews).

Click View SKUs under a criterion you want to analyze.

The report will filter to show products below recommended thresholds.

What products are driving the majority of shortage issues and why?

Navigate to Shortages.

Select a date range.

Scroll to Top Contributors By section.

See top shortages by SKU, Fulfillment Center, and POs.

What competitors am I losing SOV to?

Navigate to Market Insights.

In the top left, you will find All Digital Shelves. The section will show you your share of voice across all the tracked keywords and your competitors and share a voice across all of those.

It also shows the change of that shared voice in the time frame you’re looking at.

For a more detailed view, scroll down to the share voice breakdown, which by default will be organized by keywords that can be switched to standard shells by clicking on the top.

You'll see a breakdown by each shelf or keywords.

Which keywords are trending or declining?

Navigate to Market Insights.

Scroll down to operatory analysis.

Change the view to identify trending shells.

The chart will show keywords in four quadrants based on popularity and change in popularity. You can switch to a table view by clicking the top right.
