The layout of the Performance Trend chart can be understood as:
The metrics panel consists of:
Row 1:
Metrics tile: This shows the performance metric (in black) for the selected date range along with the percentage change in comparison to the prior period (in red / green) on the calendar. Users can select up to 12 metrics to be displayed on the chart.
Metrics selection: Provides an option to choose from a list of over xx sales, yy operations metrics, and zz advertising metrics. For a complete list of metrics and dimensions, refer to the spreadsheet here.
Add metrics: Users can view more metrics by adding more tiles.
Row 2:
Group by: Slice the performance trend data by retailer or internal business segments such as brand, category, subcategory, etc. users can change the segment category using the dropdown. When this feature is selected, the user can view the performance of only one metric at a time. The metrics can be switched by clicking on the metric tile.
Sort ‘group by’: The group by tiles can be sorted in ascending or descending order by the absolute value of the selected metric. Additionally, tiles can also be sorted in ascending or descending order by % shift from the prior period.
Row 3:
Group by: Select one or more segments and plot trendlines. Each tile has a unique color selection.
Group by selection: Use the dropdown to replace one group by segment with another.
Add ‘SKU’: The last group by tile allows the user to add more group by segments into the view to compare. A maximum of 13 group by segments can be viewed at a time.
Row 4:
Plot trendline: This function enables a user to compare trends in the selected time window with the trend in the compare-to-time window. The two time periods are represented by two x-axes in separate colors.
Plot trendlines can be used for only one metric at a time. Additionally, if group by is selected, the plot trendline can compare times for only one segment at a time for the selected metric.
Roll up by: This function allows the X-axis to roll up by days, weeks or months. Roll-up by days is selected by default. The weeks and months options are enabled only if the chosen time frame on the calendar is greater than a week and month, respectively.
Existing charts can be deleted, repositioned, cloned, and edited respectively as required by the user.
Cloning an existing chart places an exact copy of the chart right below it.
Editing an existing chart enables user to modify the chart name or configure metrics and time frames. The metrics within the chart can be configured by adding, deleting, or repositioning as required. This enables users to customize the report layout.
The charts can either be saved as a new chart or the changes can be applied only to the report.
Reports can be exported as an excel download or sent as an attachment via email to the logged in user.
An Excel export for performance trend chart downloads all performance metrics in the view down to the time intervals set at the plot trend line ‘roll-up’.
If the user has sliced data using group by, the exported dataset will have the data for all group by segments available to select in the tiles of the view.
