Best practices to adopt while creating HB strategies.

Some best practices to be adopted while using Hourly Bidder:

  • Use Amazon Market Cloud (AMC) to inform Day Parting strategy

    • Decrease budgets and bids during low traffic and conversion time periods (12 AM - 6 AM).

    • Increase bids and release budget during high traffic and high conversion time periods (7 PM - 10 PM) & (10 AM-1 PM).

  • When brand or category hourly trends in customer performance changes, create different strategies for different brands or product lines.

If few campaigns are already in an existing HB strategy they will show up as greyed out and you won't be able to add them to a new strategy.

  • Create short term strategies for tentpole events and/or key times of year.

  • Only include Active campaigns to strategies to avoid accidental actions occurring on Paused campaigns.

  • Do NOT create strategies for every hour.

    • Group by blocks of time (2+ hours) as HB actions can take up to 15 - 20 minutes to take action.

  • As part of your campaign launching process; set a calendar reminder every 2 - 4 weeks to add any new campaigns into existing/new strategies.
