Let us now take a look at the stage where we define various constraints for optimizing the budget plan. These user defined inputs/constraints help you to outline floor & ceiling values for Bid or Budget actions.
These constraints support in customizing your ad spend strategy with precision by setting percentage spend limits for specific keywords, targeting, and campaign types.
The bid and budget constraints syncs AI Goal Optimizer algorithm to adhere to these inputs as much as possible and ensure the optimization system doesn't go beyond the acceptable limits of these entities.
Constraints
You can enter percentage value for the spend constraints towards keyword targeting, campaign types targeting for each goal defined earlier.
Users should ensure the sum of all constraints added at Keyword/Targeting Type should be less than or equal to 100%.
Users should ensure the sum of all constraints added at Campaign Type should be less than or equal to 100%.
Users should ensure the total percentage allocation or change does NOT go beyond the 100 percentage mark.
You can also define campaign constraints in your budget plan by using the toggle Set campaign constraints. This enables you to define specific constraints for campaigns to be included in the budget plan. This can be viewed by scrolling the screen towards the right.
These constraints, when entered, will be considered as hard thresholds by the optimizer and will be met as closely as possible.
Campaign Constraints
Campaign constraints help you limit recommendations for Bids & Budgets, ensuring they align with your bids & budget expectations at a tag level.
Our system ensures your bids and budgets align with your goals, however for greater control, we recommend you to use Campaign Constraints for specific business needs.
These constraints help our optimization system manage each campaign and bid within your provided limits, thus ensuring efficient budget allocation.
Currently CIQ features two type of campaign constraints:
Bid Constraints
They allow you to set a floor and ceiling to the bids to be taken by the system on the basis of our optimisation engines.
Bid constraints are hard thresholds, CIQ Optimizer won't take bid actions which are beyond the scope of your given input. They prevent cost per click (CPC) levels that may be unacceptable for the business.
Budget Constraints
They allow you to set a floor and ceiling to your budget expectations from the system. The system will try and adhere to this as much as possible, however these will be treated as soft constraints ; which means, when needed we will breach this to ensure your pacing remains intact and your utilisation is kept within limits.
Spend Constraints
These constraint help you indicate the system about how you would like to spend your money and which segments of targeting/campaign type you would like to spend on.
These too are hard constraints and might also be breached in extreme cases.
CIQs AI Goal Optimizer will try to meet these constraints as much as possible, however actual spending patterns might deviate a bit on the basis of the campaign's spend capability.
The constraints might also be breached in extreme cases as keyword/targeting type spend constraints take precedence over campaign type spend constraints.
CIQs AI Goal Optimizer will try to meet these constraints as much as possible, however actual spending patterns might deviate a bit basis the campaign's capability to spend.
All constraints are optional, and should only be used if needed.
We however recommend the system to be free flowing to ensure a robust & optimized performance.
If constraints are added to keyword/targeting type or campaign type where campaigns are not present, the spend to be allocated to this category of campaigns will be allocated elsewhere and alerts will be raised to ensure the constraints are met.
The following order of execution will be followed at all times in cases of conflict.
Keyword/Targeting Type:
Generic
Client Branded
Keywords Targeting
Product Targeting
Competitor Branded
Keywords Targeting
Product Targeting
Auto
Others
Campaign Type:
Sponsored Product (SP)
Sponsored brand (SB)
Sponsored Display (SD)
