To ensure an equitable challenge, all community, school district, and employer points will be processed by the Community Challenge team. All points will be attributed to a community-wide account (created by the Community Challenge team) rather than to individual participants like in past challenges. All of these activities will be submitted via the Community Challenge website. See below for the list of ways a partner or greater community can earn points:

Partner Pledge (5,000 points)

There are eight types of community leader pledges that can be submitted on the Community Challenge website. Only the community leaders specified below are eligible to submit a partner pledge, but all participants are encouraged to submit a Health Champion Pledge (1000 points in the mobile app). Each community leader can only submit one partner pledge, but there are instances where an organization could receive credit for multiple partner pledges.

  • Organization/Employer Health Champion Pledge (HR Leader, Communications, Wellness Manager, etc.)

  • School Leader: Superintendent

  • School Leader: Principal

  • Civic Leader: Mayor

  • Civic Leader: City Council Member

  • Civic Leader: Health District or Health Coalition

  • Other (these will be reviewed and allowed at the discretion of the Community Challenge team)

School districts are the most common organizations that are able to earn points from different types of pledges. Using Pharr San-Juan Alamo ISD as an example, they could receive 5,000 points for Claudia Lemus Campos (Communications Department) submitting the Organization Health Champion Pledge, 5,000 points for Dr. Alejandro Elias submitting the Superintendent Pledge, and points for individual campuses submitting the Principal Pledge. With the pledges outlined above & 5 Principal Pledges from individual school campuses, PSJA ISD would be awarded 35,000 points for its school district.

Registration Event (5,000 points)

Community Challenge Partner organizations can earn 5,000 points by hosting a registration event! An event is considered a “registration event” if there are 10 or more people in attendance and the main goal of the event focused on encouraging registration and participation in the Community Challenge. Events can be held in person or virtually, but a photo that shows at least 10 people attending the event will need to be submitted via the form for the points to be awarded. Each Community Challenge Partner can submit up to 10 registration events up to the first two weeks of the Community Challenge. Once a partner has reached the limit of ten registration events, we encourage partners to create more opportunities for community events to continue fostering engagement.

Community Leader Promotional Video (5,000 points)

Community, school district, and employer leaders are encouraged to record promotional videos encouraging their community members to participate! Additional guidance from the Community Challenge team on what to include in your video can be provided upon request, but we encourage leaders to draw from their personal experience to promote health within their organization. To earn the 5,000 points, the video must be posted publicly via social media platforms or other appropriate communication platforms, and the link to the video must be submitted Community Challenge Website. Each community leader may only submit one video.
