Connecting Claude or ChatGPT to Companio

Connect Companio to the assistant you already use, so it knows your brand and pages and can save new pages into Companio.

Written by Matt Potts

If you already work in Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect Companio to it. Your assistant then knows your brand and every page on your team, and can save new pages straight into Companio. You connect once, from inside the assistant, and it stays connected.

Before you start

  • You need a Companio login. Connecting uses the same email and password you sign in with.

  • Outside connections have to be switched on for your workspace. If you get a card saying Outside connections aren't switched on for your workspace yet, nothing is broken. Send us a note and we'll turn it on.

  • Keep this address handy. It is the only thing you paste: https://mcp.companio.ai/mcp

In Claude

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.

  2. Choose Add custom connector. Name it Companio, paste the address above, and add it.

  3. Press Connect next to Companio. A Companio page opens. Sign in if it asks you to.

  4. You'll see a card that says Claude wants to connect to Companio. The top half lists what Claude will be able to see. The bottom half is what it will be able to change, and those boxes start unticked. Tick Save page drafts if you want it to build pages for you, then press Connect.

  5. Back in Claude, start a new chat. Open the + menu in the message box and check Companio is switched on.

In ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors. If you don't see a way to add your own, turn on Developer mode under Advanced first.

  2. Choose Create. Name it Companio, paste the address above, leave authentication on OAuth, and save.

  3. Sign in to Companio when it opens, and press Connect on the same card described above.

  4. In a new chat, open the + menu and switch Companio on.

What to ask first

Start with what pages do I have? Your assistant lists every page on your team with a preview link for each, so you can point at the one you mean instead of describing it.

Then ask for the work. Rework the spring offer page and lead with the guarantee is enough. It reads your brand, edits a working copy, and saves it to Pages in Companio. The live page does not change until you publish it.

What it can see and change

Once connected, your assistant can see your brand notes and tone, every page on your team (live and draft), how your ads are doing, and what Companio remembers about your business. Seeing is reading only. It cannot change any of that.

What it can change is up to you:

  • Save page drafts lets it create pages and edit working copies. Nothing goes public.

  • Publish pages lets it make a page live on your web address. It asks you to confirm each one, and Take offline in Companio undoes it in one click. Publishing has to be switched on for your team first. If your assistant says it can't publish, ask us and we'll turn it on.

Disconnecting

Open Console in Companio, go to Connections, and find the assistant under Assistants. Press Disconnect. It loses access straight away, and you can connect it again from Claude or ChatGPT whenever you like.
