Our times tables app is a fantastic way of building a deep understanding of multiplication and division facts.

It draws on variation theory to give multiple representations of multiplication facts, which builds more meaningful connections in pupils’ minds and gives a greater chance of the facts becoming embedded in the long-term memory.

To read a bit more about why we've designed the app as we have click here.

You can find the Times Tables app on the Manipulatives page of the Complete Maths platform on a teacher account and it is also available on pupil accounts (where it has its own page).

👩‍🏫 Teachers App

Once you've opened the app on the Manipulatives page, you will need to pick your settings before you get started. First, select the times tables you would like to be included in the quiz. You can deselect all the boxes by clicking 'Clear' or select them by clicking 'Select All'.

Then select how many questions you would like on the quiz, by using the up & down arrows. You can have between 5 and 50 questions.

Once you've done that, click 'Start' to begin the quiz.

You can monitor your pupils' progress on their Times Tables alongside all other results on a Class's page, in the 'Times Tables' tab, this includes questions answered and current star status.

👩‍🎓 Pupil App

On the pupil dashboard your students can generate a 40 question smart quiz covering their least secure areas, they can also head to Times Tables page where they can generate another 40 question smart quiz (by clicking 'Quiz Me'), or they can focus on particular times tables and specific facts.

For each question a pupil will need to enter their answer, and then click 'Submit'.

Once submitted, the answer will be marked immediately. If the answer is incorrect, the correct answer will be displayed below the question or they will be able to click 'See Correct Solution' to view the correct answer.

While completing a timetable quiz your pupils will be able to see how they've done on the last 5 questions (displayed as ticks or crosses at the top of the page).

Once all the questions are submitted, or upon clicking Exit, students will see a summary of their score. It includes the total number of correct questions and a break down of which times tables their correct & incorrect answers were from, so that pupils know what they need to work on.

At this point your students will see their appropriate star ratings increasing as a result of their quiz performance.

Pupil star ratings fall over time in line with Ebbinghaus' forgetting curve so, in order to keep ratings high, regular Times Tables practice is required.

There is a free version of the Times Tables App available on our website, here that you can share with your colleague and peers!
