How to access your pupils Times Tables progress on CLASSROOM

  1. Go to the Classes page, using the top navigation

  2. Select the appropriate class card

  3. You will land on the Markbook tab. Move over to the Times Tables tab, using the secondary navigation.

  4. You will see a list of pupils in the class, with their current rating, their questions answered in the last 7 days, and then a break down of their individual tables progress,

What do the star ratings mean?

In order for a progress to show on the teacher view a pupil needs to get at least 1 star for the times table (e.g. the 1 times table).

In order for a pupil to get 1 star on a times table they need to get 3 stars on at least 4 multiplication facts in that times table (e.g. 1×2, 1×3, 1×4 & 1×5).

In order for a pupil to get 3 stars in a multiplication fact they have to get a certain score. This score is calculated from their answers to the questions and by factoring in a bunch of variables like:

  • What type of question it was. A fill in the blank question contributes more to the score than a telegraphed table question.

  • When the questions were answered. A question’s contribution to score decays over time based on Ebbinghaus’ forgetting curve)

  • The year group of the pupil. A pupil in a higher year group has to give provide more evidence that they have understood the fact.

  • Have they answered the same fact correctly in the previous 7 days. If there is proof of consistent correctness they get a score boost.
