This article will take you through how to create readiness quizzes on the Complete Mathematics platform.

These quizzes allow you to assess your classes' understanding of the required, prerequisite knowledge for your upcoming Objectives β€” a key aspect of teaching for mastery.

Here's how you do it:

Select your Lesson:

  • Go to the Timetable page (It's the calendar icon on the navigation bar at the top of the page).

  • Click on the lesson block you want to put the quiz in.

Choose the objective(s) you want to assess the readiness for:

You must have objectives added to your lesson to create a readiness quiz, which draws from the appropriate prerequisite objectives.

  • Add an objective directly from the next recommended list in your Lesson Overview, or click 'Add' in the Objectives section.

  • By clicking 'Add' you can explore and add objectives from an assigned Scheme, or from the full Curriculum, also using the search tool.

Create your readiness quiz:

With objectives in the lesson, you can create a readiness quiz.

Step 1:

  • Either, click the 'Create Readiness Quiz' button in the Lesson Overview, or click on 'Quizzes' in the Lesson sidebar, and then select the 'Readiness Quiz' option.

Step 2:

  • Use the Generation Controls to choose what Prerequisite Depth you would like to assess β€” first-level (immediate prerequisites of lesson objectives), second-level (all first-level objectives, plus their prerequisites), or third-level prerequisites (all second-level objectives, plus their prerequisites).

  • Depending on the Prerequisite Depth chosen you'll be shown the list of Objectives to be covered in your Quiz.

  • You can remove any of these objectives from your quiz by clicking on the bin icon to the left of the objective name.

  • You can also view if any objectives you are drawing from have been taught previously, by hovering over the calendar icon to the right of the objective name.

  • Select 'Confirm' under the Objective list.

Step 3:

  • Input a Title for the Quiz. This title will show for teachers and pupils, online and offline.

  • Choose the Duration of the Quiz. This will determine how many questions/marks are in the assessment (Please Note - the longer the quiz, the better coverage of drawn from objectives)

  • Define whether you want Test Conditions Enabled or Disabled.

  • Finally, choose to either 'Save' or to 'Save & Generate'.
'Save' will retain your quiz set up on the Quizzes page, for generation later on. The assessment is not confirmed with the questions created and collated, until the quiz is generated.
'Save & Generate' will immediately put your quiz together, making it previewable to you, and available to pupils on their accounts within their lesson view, showing on their dashboard from the day of the lesson too.

Reviewing your Readiness Quiz:

All created quizzes for a lesson are available to review in the lesson's Quizzes section. Here, you can:

  • 'Preview' the full assessment, looking through the generated questions.

  • 'View Results' as they come in, taking you to the Assessment Markbook. Read more about how to interpret these results here.

  • 'Archive' or 'Delete' quizzes, for Saved or Generated quizzes respectively.

  • Review the drawn-from Objectives by clicking the 'down-arrow' button.

  • Create further quizzes by clicking 'Add'.
