Along with Teachers enrolling pupils on particular set or bespoke courses, Pupils can also use the Diagnostics process to discover which course is most suited to their current mathematical level — allowing pupils to focus on the mathematical Goals that are most relevant to them, plugging existing knowledge gaps, building a solid foundation of mathematical understanding, and moving through new content at the optimal pace.
TUTOR will calculate and recommend which course the pupil should enrol in, following a personalised series of Diagnostic Quizzes.
Here's how Diagnostics on TUTOR works:
When a Pupil logs into TUTOR they'll land on their Dashboard
Under the 'My Courses' title, there will be the Diagnostics section (it's pink!)
Click 'Start Diagnostics' to begin the process
Complete the set of 5 questions to the best of their ability
Return to the dashboard, and check the status of the Diagnostic section
Continue to complete further Diagnostic quizzes, covering different areas of mathematics, by clicking 'Continue Diagnostics'
Once the app has learnt enough about the mathematical level of the pupil, the appropriate course will be recommended in the Diagnostics section. Click on 'Add Course' to add this to 'My Courses'
Click 'Start Course' to begin working through the goals contained in the course.
What happens next?
The Diagnostics process doesn't end there! Once a recommended course has been completed, the Diagnostics section will recommend the appropriate next course, guiding the pupil through their own personal mathematics learning journey step-by-step.
Restarting Diagnostics
If at any point a pupil wants to reset their Diagnostics and start again — whether this is before or after a course has been recommended — they can do so by clicking 'Reset Diagnostics'.
How long will Diagnostics take to recommend a course?
75% of pupils are recommended a course within 7 diagnostic quizzes; however, this will vary from pupil to pupil, based on the results they get on each quiz.
The more quizzes taken, the more TUTOR understands about a pupil's current mathematical level, and the pupil will see their mathematical universe grow with each quiz taken.
