Introduction
This guide explains how to publish a course in ComplyFlow's e-Learning authoring tool and manage updates before they are visible to learners.
What Does Publishing Mean?
Publishing makes your latest course updates live for learners. Once a course has been published, it exists in two versions:
Draft version — where you make updates and changes
Published version — what is live and visible to learners
You can continue making changes to a live course in the builder without these being reflected immediately to learners. Edits are saved as draft changes and will not affect the published version until you publish again.
Note: The draft version is where you prepare updates — the published version is what learners can see. This is why a Saved successfully notification in the builder does not mean your changes are live
Publishing Your Course
1. Open your course in the builder. Select View/Edit across the Course Name.
2. Select Edit in Fullscreen > Publish at the top of the screen
3. Review your changes to confirm you are satisfied with what will go live
4. Select Publish again to confirm
Your course will update for learners once publishing is complete.
Reverting to the Last Published Version
If you need to undo recent changes and return to the last live version of your course:
1. Open your course in the builder.
2. Select Publish
3. Select Revert to return to the last published version
Note: Only the most recent published version can be restored. Once you publish new changes, that becomes the version you can revert to in the future — earlier versions are not stored
Viewing Time Since Last Published
At the top of your course, a Time since last published indicator shows how long it has been since the course was last made live. This is useful when collaborating with other course creators, giving everyone visibility into when updates were last published.
Viewing Changes Made Since Last Published
When you select Publish, you will also see a count of the number of changes made since the course was last published. This gives a quick snapshot of how much has been updated in the draft version before pushing changes live — useful when collaborating to confirm the right content is being published.
FAQs: Publishing
Do I need to publish every time I make a small change?
No — edits made in the builder are saved to the draft version and will not appear to learners until you publish. You can make as many updates as you like before publishing and push them all live at once.
Will my learners lose progress if I publish updates?
No — publishing updates the course content but does not affect learner progress or completion data. If you add or remove a screen, this will be reflected in course insights but will not affect existing completions.
Can I undo a publish?
No — once published, the action cannot be undone. You can select Revert in the builder to return to the last published version, but earlier versions are not stored.
How do I know if I am looking at the draft or published version?
If you are editing in the builder, you are working in the draft version. Use the Time since last published indicator and the changes counter to confirm when the live version was last updated.
