The Business Edge has an option that will allow you to better monitor your gross profit percentage by requiring a password for a low gross profit percentage. This feature is beneficial because it enables the system to require a password when a low gross profit margin is detected, thereby helping to enforce correct pricing and ensure profitability.

The system flag Require password for low gross profit warning is located in

Order Entry Flags

When the "Require password for low GP warning" flag is activated (set to YES), the Business Edge will generate an alert during order entry whenever the product entered falls below the predefined gross profit tolerance threshold for its classification. This prompt aims to alert users to potentially unprofitable transactions, ensuring that pricing correction can be taken.

In order to set the gross profit tolerance you must do this on the classification level. First, select a classification and under the tolerances section you can set the minimum and maximum (if applicable) acceptable gross profit.

When this flag is set to YES, the system will display a pop-up message during order entry that indicates the profit percentage, along with a field to enter a password. Only employees who provide the correct password will be authorized to continue with entering a product on the order that falls outside the designated gross profit percentage threshold.
