In The Business Edge returned Products can maintain their previous lot information when doing a Credit to a Customer or a Manual Adjustment. This is helpful if there was historical information such as Lot Certificates or Manufacturer Lot Information on the original product lot that you would like to maintain. Shown below is order #9975 with a quantity of (50), product code DRILL-5/16HS which is allocated out of the Receiving Location, Lot #15905-001
The customer decided to return the parts making a credit necessary, this can be an Order or RMA, in this case we created and RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization).
When doing a Credit, the quantity is always a negative. It is also important to make sure you are use the same unit sell and cost that was on the original order.
The parts being returned need to be allocated. This is done by clicking on Allocate Line on the right under Additional Information. This brings you to the “Credit Memo Detail Line – Tracking information – Tag Detail” screen.
The location field is used to tell the system where the product will be returned to. You can type in a location or spacebar, enter and choose a location to return the parts. By default, the system will automatically create a lot number starting with CM followed by the order number and line number, (CM9976-001)
Shown below from Product Inquiry, Tracking Cardex, (50) pieces were allocated to Order #9975 from the “Receiving” Location, Lot 15905-001.
While in the “Credit Memo Detail Line – Tracking Information – Tag Detail” screen, you have the ability to type in a lot number. This is useful if there were Certificates or Lot tracking information attached to the original lot that you would like to re-attach when doing a credit. We chose to put the product in the RECEIVING location. Since the product had a Certificate attached, and we want to re-attach it, we removed the (CM9976) from the “Lot” field and entered lot number, (15905-001) which was allocated to the original order.
If you entered in the lot number from the original order when doing a Credit the system will recognize that as being an historical lot number and you will be prompted with the “Copy Historical Lot Information To New Tracking?” question. If you would like the historical lot information to carry over to the product coming in, select Yes.
If there is a Certificate attached to the Lot there will be a blue (i) next to the Lot number.
The Tracking Cardex below shows original Order #9975 with the 50 parts coming out on 4-13-20 and then the Credit returning the 50 parts back to the same lot and location on 4-16-20.
While in the Tracking Cardex you can highlight a line and enter in, or double click to see the tracking details related to the Credit. Also, on the right under Additional Information Lot Certs, Manufacturer Information and Tag Info can be viewed if there are any associated with the original lot.
Manual Adjustments
When doing Manual Inventory Adjustments the system will display current on hand lots. If the product that you need to adjust back in is no longer in an existing lot, and the product needs to be returned, simply select New Line on the right.
Click on the grid to the right of the location field or type in the text box to add the location you would like to adjust the product into, then tab to go down to enter the lot number.
As shown in the Lot Tracking detail below the product that was adjusted in also carries the certificate and historical information from the original Lot.
