The Processing P.O. System is designed to accurately keep track of Inventory that is being processed and will add value for plating, assembly or any other process.
The Business Edge Quick PPO options give you the ability to combine the steps of Processing Purchase Orders for a more efficient flow. There are three processes made simple which include Enter & Send Processing P.O., Enter & Receive Processing P.O., and Send & Receive Processing P.O. These options can be found through the paths below as well as in the Actions tab on the top toolbar.

Send & Receive Processing P.O.’s
Once the Product to create and quantity have been entered, escape or click Ok. You will now be in the detail lines. If the Product to create has an existing Bill of Material the lines will populate. To add a BOM to the Product master file, select F9 Edit BOM from the right hand options. Inventory can be sent to the processor by clicking F7 Send Entire PPO. If you choose Send Entire PPO, the Send All Detail Lines prompt will display. If there is only one lot and location to choose from, the system will automatically allocate that lot. If there are multiple lots or locations to choose from the system will displays those lots and you can tell the system which lots are being sent to this Processing Purchase Order by using the F5 Allocate Lot menu item on the right.
Once you have sent all of the lines, the quantities will show in the sent columns. Pressing escape or Ok will take you to the final screen where you can output the necessary paperwork. The only step left is to receive the finished product when it is completed.
Next we will combine all three steps through Enter & Receive Processing P.O.’s. This process is very useful for drop ship scenarios or an internal process where the work is done very quickly. This can be accessed through the menu path mentioned earlier or from the Actions toolbar, select Enter & Receive Processing P.O.’s.
The first screen of Enter & Receive Processing P.O.’s is where you will create the document number. Select the Vendor for the process. Select the Product and enter the quantity being created. Press escape or click Ok to go to the next screen.
Next you will be in the Receive Processing P.O. – Tracking Information screen. Clicking on the detail line will bring you to the Receive Processing P.O. – Tracking Information Detail screen where you can adjust the tag/received quantity and enter manufacturer information. You can also attach certs by clicking F4 Certificates. When complete press escape or click Ok.
This combination begins with receiving the finished Product first. The Quantity Received field will auto populate the full amount as being received. Once finished press escape or click ok.
The following step is to tell the system what inventory was used in order to create the finished product. Similar to other sending screens, you can create a BOM here on the fly if needed by selecting F9 Edit BOM. If there is an existing BOM, the lines will populate. To add a BOM to the Product master file, select F9 Edit BOM from the right hand options. We can tell the system what was sent by clicking F7, Send Entire PPO on the right hand menu. If there is only one lot and location, the system will automatically allocate that lot. If there are multiple lots or locations to choose from the system will display those lots. You can tell the system which lots are being sent to this Processing Purchase Order by using the F5 Allocate Lot menu item on the right. Pressing escape or OK brings you to the final screen where you will output the necessary paperwork.
Once all the inventory has been sent, press escape or click Ok to update the Processing P.O. receipt.
In this example we are adding value to the raw product for the plating, you can see the posting to the General Ledger below..
In the final example we will cover combining the Sending and Receiving steps of the Processing P.O. which can be accessed through the menu path mentioned earlier or from Actions, Send & Receive Processing P.O.’s
The first screen of Enter & Receive Processing P.O.’s is where you will create the document number. Select the Vendor for the process. Select the Product and enter the quantity being created. Press escape or click Ok to go to the next screen.
Processing P.O.’s cannot be created through this method and an existing document number needs to be input here. The remaining information will populate from the PPO record so nothing else needs to be done on this screen. Press escape or click Ok.
We will begin by receiving the finished Product. You can enter manufacturer information to the incoming lot under manufacturer information. Certificates can be attached as well by utilizing the F4, Certificates menu item on the right. When finished, proceed to the following screen by pressing escape or clicking Ok which will display the tracking information for this receipt.
Most of the time nothing needs to be done in the tracking information screen so we can press escape or Ok to advance to the next screen.
The Enter & Edit Processing – P.O. Detail Lines screen will display the Bill of Materials used during the Enter & Edit phase. Clicking F7 Send Entire PPO will commit the Inventory to the Processing P.O. If there is only one lot and location, the system will automatically allocate that lot. If there are multiple lots or locations to choose from the system will display those lots. You can tell the system which lots are being used by this Processing Purchase Order by using the F5 Allocate Lot menu item on the right. Pressing escape or OK brings you to the final screen where you can update the receipt.
In this example we made an internal Kit and did not add value so there was no change in Inventory Value.
