There are several ways to find products in The Business Edge. When you are at a lookup prompt you can press spacebar/enter or click on the search box to the left of the field as shown below. Depending on what field you are at you will get all records sorted by the Product Code, Product Description, Classification or Alternate Part fields.
It is not always necessary or time efficient to bring up all of the records when you can easily narrow down your search. For instance, while in Product Inquiry if you want to search a specific type of hex cap screw you can type in the first few letters that the product code starts with. In the example below we typed “hcs” and pressed Enter.
Displayed below is 1-40 of 7863 products that begin with “hcs”. There are over 100,000 items total in inventory. By narrowing down our search to look for only product codes containing “hcs” we eliminated the need for the system to display all of the product codes. This can save time and help in product selection.
To further narrow down the search there is a find box on the upper left-hand side of the screen. In the search box I typed “¾ fine stain” and pressed the Enter key to only display the ¾” fine stainless-steel hex cap screws. Displayed below is 1 – 40 of 102 records.
