My Menu

Are you looking for a way to simplify and customize The Business Edge? Did you know that each User can have their own personalized Menu in addition to My Tasks on the toolbar.

This customization is referred to as “My Menu” in The Business Edge. The My Menu feature allows each User to add their daily functions into their own Menu System.

There are many benefits to setting up customized My Menu’s for your employees as well. This is a way to increase security and or simplify their choices. Users can use the My Menu for convenience along with all of the normal menu options or you can make it so they only have access to their My Menu.

In order to set up a My Menu you must be logged in as the User that will be using the particular My Menu you are setting up. First you will want to create Sub-folders in their Menu. You can do this by right clicking on My Menu and then clicking on Add Folder. You can name the folder however you like. You might have a folder called Inquiries, Reports, Orders, Financial Information, etc.

Then you can highlight the specific Items from the normal menus on the left side of the screen or from the toolbar, right click and choose Add to My Menu. Each time you add an additional selection to the My Menu it is added to the bottom.

You can then move items by dragging and dropping the menu items into the Sub-folders you created. You can also re-arrange them by dragging them or right clicking and choosing move up or move down to display them in any order you would like. You can remove menu items by right clicking with your mouse and clicking on Remove Menu Item.

When setting up the My Menu for increased security, you’ll first create that User’s My Menu while logged in as the User. Then, you will log in as yourself and change the Users permissions to only access their My Menu. This is done in Enter/Edit User Permissions, located in the Security System. In the Enter & Edit User Permissions answer Yes to the question: Limit to My Menu Only. Now when the user logs into The Business Edge they will only have access to their My Menu selections. They will not see the normal menu or the toolbar options.
