The Business Edge has a feature called Optional Information which allows users to display additional information relevant to the current task. The Optional Information grids give a vast array of related information, put access to additional information 1 click away, and in many cases saves time by eliminating additional lookups.

If your on a recent version of The Business Edge and you are not seeing the Optional Information you can enable optional information by navigating to Edit->General Flags and selecting “Yes” to the “Show Additional Information Grids in Forms?”.

Once Optional Information is enabled the Optional Information Grids will start appearing on tasks where there is additional information available. You can enable/disable the display of any Optional Information by the Optional Information button at the bottom of the form and placing a check next to each item you would like to display, or un-check the box to hide the item. You can also hide Optional Information by right-clicking on the titlebar of the Information and selecting the “Hide” option.

You also can reorganize the Optional Information to display in any order or location you wish and can be displayed to the right of the form or under the form. You can move an Optional Information item by drag it and dropping it on a different Optional Information item. The dragged item will appear above the item it was dropped on. You can also move the Optional Information to the location you wish by right-clicking on the Optional Information item and selecting one of the “Move Up/Down/Left/Right” options.

The Optional Information grids are like the grids throughout the application and you can resize and reorganize the columns into any order you desire and the application will remember your preferences. In addition many grids have columns and data that are not visible by default. To change what columns and data are visible you can click the down arrow on any column header and a list of the columns will be visible in the “Columns” menu. Check an item to display it or un-check a column to hide it. In addition, users can enable and disable auto-expanding columns within optional information grids. This feature allows users to choose to auto-expand the optional information grid columns to take up all available space (default behavior), or to display optional information grid columns at the exact width the user specifies.
