Within the User Security System in The Business Edge there are some options that may be helpful to you.

Each User in the System is given User permissions by the System Administrator within the Company. These permissions allow the Administrator to assign a Security Level and Individual Menu Selections for each User.

Some additional features in the Security System permit you to limit printer access, Customer access and Location access.

Printer Access:
You may have many printers set up for use in the Business Edge. However, there may be exceptions where you do not want all users to be able to access all printers.

Perhaps certain users should only print to certain printers, or they may only have the need to print to certain printers. You can set their User Permissions up so that they can only access the printers that are appropriate for them.

This is also a very handy way to isolate certain Printers for specific uses. You may want to specially designate Warehouse Printers, The printer that does the A/P Checks, etc.

This can reduce the list of printers a user has to choose from as well as prevent someone accidentally printing to the wrong printer.

Customer Access:
You may want to limit the Access of Users to certain Customers. This is be set up in User Permissions and within the Customer. If you have a highly competitive sales team, you may not want one salesperson to be able to access another salesperson’s accounts. This feature will give you complete control over what each salesperson is allowed to see.

If you want to limit the access of a User to see only customers that are assigned to a particular salesperson you can specify that salesperson in Enter and Edit User Permissions.

If you have a Customer that can be viewed by multiple Users that are assigned different Salespeople you can select multiple Salespeople to access that customer. You can do this in Enter and Edit Customers, F5 Additional Information, F3 Salesman Access List.

Location Access:
If you have your warehouse structure setup so that all products are received into a specified receiving location or all products are shipped from a specified location, location access may be helpful to you.

This feature in the Security System is accessed through Enter and Edit User Permissions. You can limit the locations a user is allowed to access. This security access would allow the user to Receive, Allocate or Move Product only from the locations specified in their User permissions. If no locations are specified the user can access all locations.

Thus, you could specify that the “Shipping Receiving” Workstation would only be able to access the Shipping and Receiving Locations.

Another Workstation (or a RF Scanner) would then be used to Move the Product to Inspection or some other Warehouse Location.
