Some companies prefer to use Keyboard Scanners to improve efficiency in the Shipping Department. This eliminates some common mistakes users make when faced with the task of selecting the correct Order Number, Part Number, Lot Number or Quantity. Here is how you can integrate a keyboard scanner into your current procedures:

Allocating Sales Orders- Fields that can be scanned instead of typed in:

Sales Order Number If you scan the Sales Order Number the system will select the Order and take you to the Detail Lines Screen.

Product Code If you scan the Product Code the system will take you to the first line item with that Product Code. You can then Press Enter to select it.

Lot Number If you scan the Lot Number the system will take you to the first occurrence of the Lot Number you scanned. If you are shipping all of the parts in that location you can press F5 and the system will allocate as many as available from that location, up to the Quantity Ordered. Or you can press Enter and type or scan the quantity you are shipping.

Quantity If you scan the Quantity on the Box you are shipping it will automatically fill in the Quantity field. If you have more than one box you can use the keyboard calculator to type in the previous quantity and the plus sign and then scan the next quantity.

Sending Processing Purchase Orders: Fields that can be scanned instead of typed in:

Processing Purchase Order Number If you scan the PPO Number the system will select the PPO and take you to the Detail Line Screen.

Product Code If you scan the Product Code that you are sending to the Processor the system will take you to the line item you would like to Send. You can then Press Enter to select it.

Lot Number If you scan the Lot Number the system will take you to the first occurrence of the Lot Number you scanned. You can then select the line by pressing F5 or enter to type in a quantity.

Quantity If you scan the Quantity on the Box you are sending and it will automatically fill in the Quantity field. If you have more than one box you can use the keyboard calculator to type in the previous quantity and the plus sign and then scan the next quantity.

Manual Adjustments: Fields that can be scanned instead of typed in:

Product Code If you scan the Product Code that you are adjusting, the system will select that Product. If you do not have any on hand they system will bring you to the Location field where you can enter the Location followed by Lot and Quantity. If you do have on-hand inventory for the selected part the system will bring you to the Tracking information screen where you can enter a New Line or Edit an existing Lot/Location.

Lot Number If you are editing an existing Lot Number, simply scan the Lot Number and the system will take you to the first occurrence of the Lot Number you scanned. You can then select the line by pressing Enter.

Quantity If you scan the Quantity it will automatically fill in the Adjust Quantity to be field.
