Setting Up Units of Measure

You need to enter the Unit Of Measure (UOM) of what you the measuring device measures. This could include inch, degrees, mm, feet, %, lbs, etc.

The detail of the calibration type needs to be filled in.

The Accuracy of Device and Error Allowed when Calibrating are for future enhancements and are not currently used in The BUSINESS EDGE.

If you are internally calibrating the device, then you can fill in the “standard” dimensions to calibrate at.

Enter & Edit Measuring Devices

You enter a new code and description for the specific device, and choose the type of device.

You can choose a different vendor for this specific device.

You input the current location where the device is located and whether it is actively being used.

Only active devices are shown in the devices that need calibration report.

The “History” button shows you all the times that the Location and Active Status were changed.

The 2nd screen shows the calibration history and is where you can put in new calibrations.

You can enter new calibrations.

For outside vendor calibrations, choose “New Line” and then choose Scan Certificate to scan in the certificate. If there are multiple devices on the same certificate, you can scan in the certificate as a document group and then use the “Document Groups” button to assign this calibration as part of the Document Group.

For internally calibrated devices, you choose the guage used to calibrate and then fill in the “in” measurements, and then fill in the “out” measurements. You can use the comments to put in any discrepancies and what you did to correct them.

(For demonstration purposes, we are only including the “in” measurement screen – the “out” measurement screen looks the same)

This report will list all the devices that need calibrating up to the specified date.

The system also e-mails a user if devices are needed.

The e-mail is setup in:

The “Person to warn for Calibrations Due” and the “Days early to warn Calibrations Due” are used to generate an e-mail regarding the devices that are coming due for calibrations.
