There is a flag in the Customer Master file to force the entry of a Customer PO Number on a Sales Order. If you are using this feature you can now choose where you would like the system to check for the PO Number. A new flag has been added - Point to Check for Customer PO. This flag enables you to choose at which point of processing the Order the user will get a prompt indicating a Customer PO Number needs to be entered. This flexibility is very helpful if you do not always get the required PO Number when the Order is originally placed. Users often fill in something like GET PO NUMBER as a place holder for the actual Customer PO number.
This flag is located in:

The options are: Allocate Inventory, Order Entry β First Screen, Order Entry β Last Screen or Invoice Creation. When prompted, you must enter the PO number or you will not be allowed to proceed past the point where the PO number is required.
In the example below the Point to Check for Customer PO flag is set to Allocate Inventory. When the Order is entered into Allocate Inventory, the Customer Requires a PO Number prompt will appear:
After clicking OK at the prompt, the cursor will be in the PO field. Enter the PO number to proceed with Order Entry.
In the example below the Point to Check for Customer PO flag is set to Order Entry β Last Screen. After a user finishes the Order and attempts to exit the final screen of E&E Orders, The Customer Requires a PO Number prompt will appear.
After Clicking OK at the prompt, the cursor will be in the Customer PO field in the Mandatory Fields box. Enter the PO number to complete the Order Entry.
In the final example, the Point to Check for Customer PO flag is set to Invoice Creation. The prompt will appear after you click F12 Create Invoice from the final screen of Allocate Inventory.
