If you require Users to enter a Ship Via on an Order, there is a flag in The Business Edge that you can set that forces the entry of a Ship Via. There is also a flag to indicate the point in the order process that the system will require the Ship Via selection. This helps when it is not practical to force the entry on the first screen when starting an Order.

The flag is called - Point to Check for Ship Via. This flag enables you to choose at which point of processing the Order the user will get a prompt indicating a Ship Via needs to be selected. This flexibility is very helpful if you do not always get the required Ship Via when the Order is originally placed. Users often fill in something like Best Way as a place holder for the Ship Via.

The Sales Order Ship Via Check Point is located in:

Utilities

System Administrator System

System Set Up

Miscellaneous Setup

Enter & Edit Entity Flags

General Flags

Workflow Flags

The options are: Order Entry – First Screen, Order Entry – Last Screen or Allocate Inventory. When prompted, you must select the Ship Via or you will not be allowed to proceed past the point where the Ship Via is required.

Note- In order to use this flag, the Sales Order Ship Via Required Flag must also be set to Yes. The flag is right above the sales order ship via check point flag.

In the example below the Sales Order Ship Via Check Point flag is set to Allocate Inventory. When the Order is brought up in Allocate Inventory the user will not be able to exit the order unless a Ship Via has been selected. Below is an example of the message.

Click OK at the prompt and you will see the screen below where you can add a ship via and extra shipper description if needed.

In the next example the Point to Check for Ship Via flag is set to Order Entry – First Screen. As shown below a user is prompted to enter the Ship Via on the first screen of Enter & Edit Orders before being allowed to enter detail lines.
