The Business Edge has an option for you to create a Product Tree. This is helpful if you categorize your products and would like to drill into a list or utilize it for your website. You can access the Product Tree on the left-hand side menu or add it to my menu or my tasks for easy access. The fields are also available in the RESTful APIs for custom reporting or websites.

There are four fields that can be used to create a Product Tree in The Business Edge. Classification Family Group, Classification Family, Product Classification and finally the Product Code.

When setting up your Product Tree you will first set up the Classification Family Groups. The Classification Family Group is assigned to the Classification Family and is the top level of the Product Tree and is located here:

Inventory System

Inventory File Maintenance

Product Properties System

Product Classifications

Enter & Edit Prod Class Fam Grps

The Product Classification Family Group will be a very general categorization of your products such as Bolts.

Next you will setup the Classification Family which is assigned to the Product Classification and can be entered below. The Classification Family will be more specific, like Tap Bolts. When entering the Classification Family, you will select the Family Group it belongs in.

Next, you’ll set up the Product Classifications, this will be the most descriptive level of the tree. The Classification Family will be assigned to the Product Classification.
