The Business Edge has a feature that will allow you to quickly process returns through the counter sales module. The Counter Sales Return function allows you to select a product that was sold previously in order to create a return.
In the Counter Sales System in the Order & Quote Entry System on the right-hand side or at the top of The Business Edge under Documents select Enter Counter Sales. When you click on Enter Counter Sales, the page displayed below will open
The page below is the product selection screen, on the right-hand side you will see an option to return item.
If the Customer has the original invoice number, you can type it in the screen below which appears after clicking on return item. If they do not have their original invoice, you can find it in the customer inquiry. When using a generic Cash Customer, companies often make the PO Number the customers phone number so you can easily search for it in a customer inquiry.
After typing the original invoice number, you will be presented with the screen below in which you can select a product from the list of products that were sold on the original invoice.
Double click on the line for the product that the Customer is returning. The Business Edge will show the original quantity shipped and the price. Type the quantity that the Customer is returning and press OK or hit escape.
On this screen you can override the unit sell if necessary, however The Business Edge will automatically display the price paid on the original invoice. Changes to this field only need to be made if there is a restock fee or the credit amount will be less than originally charged for the product selected
If you use lot tracking for the product selected, the screen below will appear in order for you to select a return location and optionally add any manufacturer information. If at this point you notice a discrepancy, you can press delete at the bottom right to return to the previous screen for correction to quantity or price
Once the above screen is completed click OK or press escape to return to the product selection screen. At that point, you can select return item again if the customer has another item they would like to return.
If the customer is also purchasing items they can be added to the same order.
After the order is complete, the final screen of Enter & Edit Counter Sales-Payment will show the total due, in this case it is a credit amount in red. You can optionally print a copy of the invoice to give to the customer which will show their credit amount. If the customer paid cash the money that you refund will come out of the drawer.
