πŸ‘‹ Article 6 β€” Checking Visitors Out

How visitors check out at the end of their visit β€” and how to do a manual checkout if needed.

The two ways visitors check out

1. Self-checkout (the normal way)

When a visitor is ready to leave, they walk back up to the Conii kiosk. The camera recognizes them, and Conii says "See you, Sarah!" with a Check Out button.

They tap it, the kiosk thanks them, and they're done.

2. Manual checkout by name (if they forget)

Sometimes visitors leave without tapping check-out. That's fine β€” front desk staff can do it for them in a few seconds.

  1. From the Conii screen, tap the Check Out button at the bottom

  2. Tap the By Name tab

  3. Start typing the visitor's name (just a few letters works)

  4. Tap the visitor's row to select them β€” you'll see a green border appear around their row

  5. Tap the big Check Out button on the right

  6. Done

πŸ’‘ Tip: The list only shows visitors who are still checked in. Once you check someone out, they disappear from the list automatically.

Why we built it this way

The original design had a "Check Out" button on every visitor row. Staff kept tapping the wrong row by accident. So we changed it to select first, then commit β€” the same pattern used by professional kiosks at airports and hospitals. You pick the right person, then you confirm. No accidental check-outs.

The "I'm not on the list" case

If someone walks up and they're not in the list, that means they were never checked in to begin with (maybe they came in a side door, or someone else helped them on a different kiosk). You can either:

  • Have them check in fresh as a new visitor

  • Or just let them leave β€” there's nothing to check out
