With LPR, your dismissal carline runs hands-free: when a family's car pulls into the pickup line, our camera reads the license plate and their students appear on your dismissal smartboard automatically
What you'll need
- An AXIS P1465-LE camera (or equivalent) with the License Plate Verifier Kit (one per pickup entrance)
- A network connection for each camera with internet access
- Your ConciergePad camera URL for each entrance
Step 1 - Mount the camera
Install the camera at each pickup entrance following the placement guide included in the Axis kit. The camera needs a clear view of license plates as cars enter the line — the kit's guide covers the right height, distance, and angle. Your installer or IT provider handles this step; no ConciergePad configuration happens here.
Step 2 - Connect the camera to ConciergePad
You'll do this once per camera, from any computer on the same network:
1. Open a web browser and go to the camera's IP address (your installer can tell you what it is). Sign in.
2. Go to Apps and open AXIS License Plate Verifier.
3. If this is the first time opening it, complete the short setup wizard — when asked for a region, choose Americas.
4. In the License Plate Verifier settings, find the section called Push events (in some versions it's called Integration).
5. Set the type to HTTPS POST (JSON) and paste the ConciergePad URL for this entrance exactly as provided — the URL tells us which school and which carline this camera feeds, so make sure the lower school camera gets the lower school URL.
6. Save. Leave any username/password fields blank — the URL itself is the credential.
That's the entire connection. Repeat for each camera with its own URL.
Step 3 - Have your families register their vehicles
Students appear at dismissal when the arriving car's plate matches a registered family vehicle. Parents do this themselves in the ConciergePad app, in about a minute:
1. In the parent app, open My Vehicles and tap Add Vehicle.
2. Enter the license plate, and the car's color, make, and type (this description appears on the dismissal board so staff can match the car visually).
3. Choose which of their children ride in this vehicle.
Step 4 - Verify it's working
During your pickup window, have a staff member with a registered vehicle drive through the camera's capture zone:
- Their students should appear on that entrance's dismissal smartboard within a few seconds, with the car's description (e.g., "Silver Toyota SUV").
- Cars are never announced twice within 10 minutes, students with a bus/carpool/activity change for the day are skipped automatically, and scans outside your pickup window are recorded but don't announce anyone.
Every car the camera sees — registered or not — is kept in your LPR activity log, including which camera saw it, the direction of travel, and the read confidence.
Frequently asked questions
What if a family doesn't register a plate? Nothing changes for them, your existing carline process (car tags) works exactly as before, side by side with LPR.
What about visitors or unregistered cars? They're logged for your records but nothing is announced. Staff handle them as they do today.
Does the camera photograph drivers or students? ConciergePad stores only the plate text, time, camera, and read confidence, never photos. The camera itself keeps images locally per your own retention settings, viewable by your staff on the camera.
A parent got a new car or license plate? They just update their vehicle in the app, it takes effect on the next scan.
Can we add another entrance later? Yes, one camera and one URL per entrance. Contact ConciergePad and we'll issue the URL for the new entrance.
