Summary

  1. To create a new Value Optioneering item, navigate to the ForeSite Solution, and click Add Item. You can create a new item from scratch or add one from the library.

  2. The library in the portfolio tools keeps track of all items created across your projects. You can also add items in the Library.

  3. When creating an item from scratch, start by adding the item title, the associated component, the square footage changes if any, and assign a priority for the item.

  4. In the Scopes of work window, specify the changes that will lead to cost increases or decreases. Start by inputting the scope name, then specify the quantity and the unit of measure from the available list. Input the unit cost and specify the appropriate MasterFormat division or Uniformat classification or both.

  5. In a similar way, you can add scopes that will lead to a cost decrease. Just add the negative sign before the unit cost.

  6. To add a markup, you can import the current project's markup scheme, use a markup template, or create markups from scratch.

  7. The Range of Outcome can be used to reflect the cost variations of this value optioneering item. The range of outcome can be entered as a percentage of the value optioneering item's cost, or as a lumpsum.

  8. You can add mutually exclusive items from the list of items already existing in your project to avoid double counting ideas.

  9. Finally, you can add attachments to your VO item and keep track of all activity related to this item.

  10. You can add more details about the VO item, such as a due date. You can also add the item to your library so it can be used on other projects.

  11. Note that the same item creation menu is also available for you from the Target Value Design solution. If you have a long list of VO items to input into ConCntric, reach out to your customer support team who is always ready to help you import those into your project.
