How to Create Planning Groups

Create planning groups for retailers you forecast or plan promotions at. To create new planning groups follow the steps below:

Written by Support
  1. Select Settings on the left hand nav

  2. Click Planning Groups

  3. Click Add New Planning Group

  4. Input Name

  5. Input Retailer — if the retailer is already on Confido's preset list, select it directly. If it isn't, you can type in a new retailer name to tag it on future promotions.

Note: Keep Confido's standard naming conventions rather than renaming them — this ensures reliable AI matching for that retailer going forward.

  6. Input RTM(s)

    1. If multiple indicate the allocation

    2. Add DC (if applicable)

  7. Add Collection (if applicable) — grouping multiple Planning Groups under a shared Collection rolls their consumption together. For example, tagging Fred Meyer, King Soopers, and other regional Kroger divisions to a parent "Kroger" Collection means a promotion planned and tied at the Kroger level will automatically pull in consumption from every Planning Group tagged to that Collection — no need to set up the same promotion separately at each individual banner.

Tip: To confirm a Planning Group is tied to the right Collection, go to Settings > Planning Groups, search for the Planning Group by name (e.g., "Fred Meyer"), and check its Collection field.

  8. Add Custom Fields (if applicable)

  9. Hit Save

To add Planning Groups in Bulk:

  1. Click Upload CSV containing the following:

    1. Planning Group

    2. Collection

    3. RTM/Distribution

    4. % of Sale

Deleting a Planning Group Tied to a Locked Forecast

If a Planning Group is tied to a locked forecast version, it cannot be deleted directly — locked versions are protected from changes by design. To delete the Planning Group, first unlock any forecast version(s) that reference it, then delete the Planning Group.

This commonly comes up when transitioning a customer from one forecasting methodology to another (for example, moving a Direct Order customer off a manual consumption forecast and onto Direct Order Forecast) and you want to remove the now-unused Planning Group.
