When to Use Targets
The most common application of the Targets feature is loading high-level plans to compare against bottom-up builds in Confido. This comparison helps your team understand discrepancies between what was planned and what happened, which can lead to actionable insights.
How to Access and Create Targets
Creating and Uploading Targets
Navigate to Sales β Targets to access the targets functionality within Confido
Click "Upload Targets" button at the top of the targets section
Name your target version for easy identification and tracking
Select Configuration Options
Select whether the targets will be at the "Total Company" level, or more granular
If granular, select the level of granularity for
Customer hierarchy (i.e., planning group, customer, custom attribute)
Product hierarchy (i.e., product, product family, custom attribute)
Spend specificity (i.e., reason-specific spend lines)
Define target values as dollar amounts or as trade rate percentages
Specify the target year for the uploaded data
Viewing and Editing Targets
Once created, view your targets on the "Targets" page
Target values are manually adjustable within the interface
Use the "Revenue," "Spend," and "All Target Metrics" tabs to view your targets in different configurations
Export target data using the export option in the top right
Comparing Targets to Forecasts in Confido
Navigate to Trade Summary section
Click "Compare Versions" and select the target/forecast versions to compare
View both versions side-by-side to evaluate discrepancies between planned targets versus bottoms-up Confido forecasts
Example Scenario:
Target: $80,000 in revenue
Actual forecast: $60,000 in revenue
Next step: Investigate drivers of $20,000 gap in the lates forecast
Best Practices
Use descriptive naming conventions for target versions (include year, planning cycle, etc.) and document assumptions and methodologies upon creation
Ensure target uploads align with organizational structure in Confido
When comparing targets to forecasts, focus on significant variances that require further action. Use comparisons as an early warning system for target achievement risks, and to refine bottom-up forecast
