Overview
Promotion events in Confido can span an entire year — common for always-on programs like EDLP (Everyday Low Price) allowances. Rather than booking the full accrual into a single period, Confido allows you to split a promotion event across multiple accrual periods. This gives your team accurate period-by-period accrual visibility.
Part 1: Create the Promotion Event
Navigate to the Trade Calendar section from the left-hand navigation menu
Click + New Promotion to open the promotion creation form
Enter a name for the promotion event (e.g., "2026 EDLP — Retailer Name")
Set the Start Date to the first day of your desired promotion period (e.g., January 1, 2026)
Set the End Date to the last day of the promotion period (e.g., December 31, 2026)
Note: Periods in Confido are defined by month by default. Any promotion event that spans two or more periods will be eligible for period splitting
Fill in the remaining promotion details — type, product, and rate information — as applicable
Part 2: Split the Promotion Across Periods
Once the event dates are entered, locate the Split by Period option within the promotion charge line
Click the Split by Period button and Confido will automatically divide the promotion into individual periods based on the event's start and end dates
Review the generated period breakdown to confirm the splits align with your expectations. Each period will show its pro-rated date range and corresponding accrual amount.
Note: The accrual amount for each period is calculated based on the days within that period. Verify that the totals across all periods match your intended annual accrual.
Optional: Enable Automatic Period Splitting
If your team regularly creates promotions that span multiple months, you can configure Confido to split promotions automatically.
Navigate to Settings and open Trade Calendar Settings
Enable the Auto-Split Promotions by Period setting. Once active, any new promotion event that spans two or more periods will be automatically split upon creation — no manual action required.
Note: This setting applies to all new promotions created after it is enabled. Existing promotions will not be retroactively split.
