Move whiteboards

Similar to pages, you can move whiteboards amongst the content tree & across spaces.

When you move a whiteboard, all incoming links will be maintained. When you move a parent page/whiteboard, the entire hierarchy of child content will move too.

Reorder your whiteboards in the content tree

  1. Go to the space home and expand the sidebar to locate the content tree

  2. Expand the branches to locate the whiteboard you want to move

  3. Drag and drop the whiteboard to a new position in the tree

Moving whiteboards within & across spaces

You can move whiteboards within a space, or you can move a whiteboard from one space to another.

Link redirects

When a whiteboard is moved, Confluence will automatically redirect any links to it to the new location. No need to manually update the URL anywhere it's used within Confluence or in any other products.

To move a whiteboard within the same space:

  1. Navigate to and view the whiteboard you want to move.

  2. Select > Move either by hovering on the whiteboard in the content tree until the More actions (...) menu appears or via the More actions (...) menu in the top right corner of the whiteboard. The Move content dialog box appears.

  3. Use the Browse tab if you need look at the content tree to find a new location for your content.

  4. Use the Search tab to choose the exact location.

  5. Select Move after you've chosen the new location.

  6. The whiteboard and it’s child content will move to your chosen location.

To move a whiteboard to a different space:

  5. Select the name of the new space.
You'll only see spaces that you have access to.

  6. Drag your whiteboard to the new location or select the new parent node.

  7. Select Move after you've chosen the new location.

  8. The whiteboard and it’s child content will move to your chosen location.

Ensure you have the right space permissions to move & copy whiteboards between spaces.

Delete whiteboards

When you delete a Confluence whiteboard, it moves to the space's trash much like an email moves to your email trash or a file moves to the trash on your computer. The whiteboard isn't permanently deleted and can be retrieved, until you purge the whiteboard from the trash. There's a few things you might want to check before you delete a whiteboard, like checking incoming links and child pages/whiteboards.

To delete a whiteboard

  1. Go to the whiteboard to be deleted.

  2. Click > Delete either by hovering on the whiteboard in the content tree until the More actions (...) menu appears or via the More actions (...) menu in the top right corner of the whiteboard.

The Delete option will only appear if you have permission to delete this content. See Space permissions.
