Scanning Barcodes are a super easy way to search for your inventory, but what if you want to search using Text? Well now Beacon offers OCR to help! (Object Character Recognition).
Maybe you're scanning a bill sheet, maybe you're scanning the catalog number on an actual device; either way, Beacon can help.
First take a picture of the text you want to scan using your device
Next, Navigate to the All Inventory tab in Beacon (Web OR Mobile)
Click on the scanning button in the search field.
Switch the "Scan Barcode" filter to "Scan Text"
Then Click "Capture Text"
Then you will be prompted to select your image file.
Crop your image down to the text you would like to scan with OCR for best results
Click "Crop and Proceed"
The system will then process the image to identify your text
Make any revisions to the displayed text
Be aware that Beacon will search using all of this text.
So, you may need to revise or reformat your search to find your results.
