What's the difference between a Quote and a Sales Order?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The ability to generate a Quote is a useful tool when you're up against an approval process for a case or insurance reimbursement is a question. In this article we unpack how the Quote is different from the Sales Order in Beacon.

What to know about Sales Orders:

  • A sales order is generated after a case/event has been submitted for billing

  • The sales order reflects what was actually sold in an event

  • The sales order document is provided to the facility to prompt the creation of a purchase order

What to know about Quotes:

  • Quotes are an optional document to generate before the case is performed

  • A quote is a document that may be shared with the provider to estimate the cost of a case

  • A quote can be used in the case to readily select inventory that is used (to save time)

  • Quotes may be generated using surgeon preference cards for cases that commonly have the same sale profile

  • Quotes are driven by stored pre-established contract pricing

  • Here is an example of what a quote looks like in Beacon:
