How to enable or disable Google Consent Mode with Consent Studio

If you are just getting started with Consent Studio, Google Consent Mode is enabled by default and you do not need to do anything else.

Toggling Google Consent Mode from the Consent Studio Dashboard

Log in to your Consent Studio account and switch to the appropriate site to manage.

From your dashboard, head over to the General Settings panel under Banner.

Under Default behavior, find Integrations. There you will see a toggle: Enable Google Consent Mode.

When this toggle is greyed out, as in the screenshot above, Google Consent Mode is disabled.

Important: the toggle in the Consent Studio dashboard does not apply to our official tag for Google Tag Manager, because it fires Google Consent Mode signals before making a request to our APIs. If you wish to enable or disable Google Consent Mode completely and you are using our official Google Tag Manager tag, you also need to disable Google Consent Mode in the tag's settings.

Toggling Google Consent Mode from the official Consent Studio tag for Google Tag Manager

First, make sure that you have installed our official tag for Google Tag Manager.

Under General Settings, find this toggle:

and select Yes or No, depending on your goal.
