Although very uncommon, contractors have reported this situation happening from time to time. To be clear, our platform will not book appointments for any two companies at the same time.
Here are a few reasons how this could have happened:
The homeowner booked multiple estimates at the same time (not through our platform but from other sources)
The homeowner rescheduled with a contractor on our platform for the same time as their appointment with you (the homeowner could have done this by mistake)
You showed up early and the other contractor was late. You're scheduled 1.5 hour -2 hours of time before the next contractor could arrive. If you're running late, or arriving excessively early, your appointments could overlap.
How to handle this with the customer:
The customer is often just as confused as you are or embarrassed by their mistake. Call the customer and ask if it would be better to come back at a different day and time, or ask if they would like you to wait until the other contractor is finished.
As always, if a customer cancels or is unwilling to provide you with an opportunity to estimate their project then you can request a credit.
