šŸ‘‰ What is Conversion API?

Facebook Conversion API used to be known as Facebook Server-Side API. Itā€™s designed to help businesses maintain data privacy all while delivering personalized advertising experiences to customers and audiences. This is all done without having to rely on browser based tools like cookies.

šŸ‘‰ Why do we need it?

Facebookā€™s Conversions API has a unique set of benefits that browser Pixel simply does not. Some of these benefits include a better overview of omnichannel customer journeys. This is done by conquering things that used to be challenging for event tracking. These overcoming challenges include:

  • Bad network connections

  • Long loading times for pages

  • Ad blockers

Possibly the best benefit of the Facebook Conversions API is that you can control the data that is shared with Facebook servers.

šŸ‘‰ How to set it up?

If you have a Facebook pixel, make sure to add it to a business manager.

You can setup a Business manager here:

Either create a new pixel or use an existing pixel.

šŸ‘‰ STEPS

1. Go to Business manager > Data sources > Pixels

  • You can choose between creating a new pixel

  • Publish your page

  • Visit the published page

  • The test events should now show up in the facebook test panel ( Business manager > Data sources > Pixels > Test Events )

ā—ļøImportant: when done testing, make sure to remove the Facebook Test Id from your funnel and republish your funnel. If you donā€™t remove this, your pixel events wonā€™t get tracked correctly.

āŒ Common problems:

  • I canā€™t create an access token.
