What are Alt tags

Alt text (alternative text), also known as "alt attributes", “alt descriptions", or technically incorrectly as "alt tags,” is used to describe the appearance and function of an image on a page.

Why do we need them

There are two main reasons to add image Alt-Tags in Converdy. They are both quite important reasons and so we would recommend adding them to all the images on your pages.

1. To help those who are visually impaired. When visually impaired visitors on your site, they will have a software which scans the page and tells them what is on it. This won’t work on an image because the software doesn’t know what it is, and so can’t tell the user. If you add an alt-tag, then the software does know, and will let the visitor know what is on the image. It is recommended to use a description like sentence(s) to describe the image.

2.Alt text will be displayed in place of an image if an image file cannot be loaded. It also provides better image context/descriptions to search engine crawlers, helping them to index an image properly. Using alt text on your images can make for a better user experience, but it may also help earn you both explicit and implicit SEO benefits.
