Common visual automation scenarios packaged into handy templates
Not too sure how to create a visual automation? We’ve got your back.
We’ve prepared a set of visual automation templates that you can copy into your account, then modify to fit your needs. You’ll have your visual automations up and running in no time. 💪
In this guide, you’ll learn where to find our visual automation templates and how to use them.
Before we get started though, you should have a rough idea of how visual automations work. Our main guide to visual automations will give you the lowdown on that!
If you’re ready to get started, then let’s dive in! 🎉
Browse our visual automation templates
Go to the Automations tab of the ConvertKit dashboard and click the + New Automation button to create a new visual automation. When you do so, you’ll see a screen with a Browse Templates button.
Hit that button and all our visual automations templates will appear!
You’ll find visual automation templates for the following scenarios:
Evergreen product pitch
Host a webinar
Follow up with customers who don’t purchase
(While we’ve designed each template with a certain scenario in mind, you’re welcome to use them for other purposes too.)
Select the best template for your needs
Click the Preview option next to each template to understand how they work.
In our evergreen newsletter sequence, for example, your subscribers will enter the automation through either a form, tag, or landing page, and then receive a welcome email sequence.
When you’ve decided which template to use, click the Use Template button.
This will create a blank copy of the template—including its forms, tags, actions, conditions and so on—in your account.
NOTE: If you have already created the forms, landing pages, tags or sequences to be used in your visual automation, you might not want to duplicate the automation template by clicking the Use Template button.
This is because doing so will add blank forms, landing pages, tags and sequences (as relevant) to your account, which you’ll need to delete. Instead, we suggest making a note of how the automation template is structured, and then recreating it using the forms, landing pages and so on that you already have. We have a guide to creating a visual automation from scratch here.
Customize your visual automation template
Now that you have a copy of the visual automation, it’s time to build it out. Click on each item in the automation and edit it to fit your needs.
For example, when you click on a form, you’ll be able to customize it in our form builder.
After you’ve set up one component of your visual automation, click on your visual automation in the left sidebar.
You’ll be brought right back to your visual automation so you can continue working on it. How awesome is that?
And of course, feel free to:
Add more components to your visual automation, such as adding more entry points to it, or
Delete any components that you don’t need, such as deleting the template’s landing page entry point if you won’t be using a landing page to collect email sign-ups.
