This is part 3 of a 3-part series about the Kit email editor:
The email editor: adding media βπYou are here
Add images (and more) to Kit emails
You can add several types of media to your Kit emails. Images are one, but also video, HTML, and more.
In this article, we'll cover each media option and its available settings.
NOTE: Working with just words for now? We have a separate guide dedicated to text formatting.
Images
If you select Image from the content block menu, the media gallery will load. Use it to add an image to your email.
Once you've done this, click your image to reveal formatting options in the right sidebar:
From this menu, you can add alt text, add a URL to turn your image into a link, and adjust visual styles (this includes enabling text wrapping).
You can also click the Edit button to edit your image directly within Kit.
Image galleries
Showcase a curated gallery of images in your email. This feature is very similar to image galleries on Landing Pages.
Select Gallery from the content block menu, and then populate the placeholders with images of your choosing:
To adjust your image gallery's styling, click anywhere in the gallery to display image gallery settings in the email editor's right sidebar.
You'll be able to adjust your gallery's corner roundedness, number of columns, and image crop settings:
To adjust the settings for a particular image, click the image directly to populate image-specific options on the sidebar.
From there, you can select whether to optimize your image, add a URL to it, or adjust its alt text:
β
To remove the image, click it and hit either the "Delete" or "Backspace" button on your keyboard.
Files
You can add links to files, like PDFs, in your emails for your subscribers to download by clicking the links.
There are two options for adding files: the first method involves selecting File from the content block menu in an empty block, and then choosing the file you want to upload.
This method will insert the file as a text link, using the filename. For example:
Alternatively, type your text as normal paragraph text. Then, highlight it > open the content block menu > select File:
Upload your file when prompted, and voilΓ . Now, your file is linked to your custom text instead of your file's filename.
Videos
You can embed videos that are hosted on platforms like YouTube or that you upload from your computer. Learn how in our guide to embedding videos in emails.
For example, here's one method of embedding a video hosted on YouTube:
Dividers
Adding a divider using the Divider option is a great way of visually splitting up different sections of your email.
The default divider is a subtle gray separator:
You can also use the settings in the right sidebar to customize your divider's look.
HTML blocks
Selecting HTML Block from the content block menu will insert an empty HTML block into your email:
Click the Edit button and enter your HTML in the modal that pops up. When you're done, click Save.
NOTE: You can also add inline CSS to an HTML block. The process is the same as adding inline CSS to an email template, just that you're adding inline CSS to a specific email instead.
X embeds
You can embed X posts directly in your emails. Learn how in our separate guide to embedding X posts.
Snippets
Inserting content snippets is a great way of dynamically adding reusable content to your emails.
