Introduction to Timeline View

Learn about the range of tools available in Timeline view, including how to watch live camera feeds and access previous recordings.

Timeline view is the main control center for each individual camera, and shows live feeds and past recordings. You can also share links to live video streams, search for specific events, create timelapses, manage camera settings, control pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, and apply fisheye dewarping.

  • Access Timeline View
    You can access a camera's Timeline view from Devices > Cameras, Live View, or Personal Wall - just click the video thumbnail.

  • Search and Review Recordings
    Use natural language queries, motion detection, or specific region filters to pinpoint relevant clips quickly.

  • Download, Archive, or Share
    Save clips offline, add them to an archive for safekeeping, or share live video streams externally.

  • Utilize Extra Features
    Create and download timelapses, adjust PTZ settings, enable fisheye dewarping, and view activity by day, all within the timeline view.

Overview

Timeline view gives you a complete view of all activity captured by a camera, helping you monitor live feeds and past footage, quickly locate events, and review activity with precision. You can search by activity type, apply region-based filters, generate timelapses, and manage settings, all in one place.

Accessing a Camera's Timeline View

There are three ways to access the live Timeline view for a camera. Just click a video thumbnail on any of the following pages:

  • The Cameras tab on the Devices page

  • The Live View page

  • The Personal Wall page

The Timeline view loads, and the live feed is shown by default.

Tip: You can also access a camera’s Timeline view at the exact moment a clip was recorded. While viewing any clip in the modal video player, select the Open in New Tab icon (). The Timeline view opens at the date and time the clip was captured.

Timeline View Tools and Features

Timeline view enables you to do the following:

  • Watch live feeds, browse, and search through past recordings

    • Review live or past footage

    • Find people, faces, vehicles, or motion.

    • Use natural language search terms to find practically anything.

    • Filter searches by a region of interest
