Help! My watch won’t connect!

I'm stuck in a Connecting/Negotiating loop when connecting to my watch!

  1. Head to the Pebble mobile app and click on 'Devices'. Tap the 'Disconnect' button next to your watch.

  2. Close the Pebble app in the iOS app switcher.

  3. On your watch, go to Settings -> Bluetooth

  4. Then, click the center right button to toggle airplane mode on, then click center button one more time to turn it off

  5. Go back to your phone and open the Pebble app. Tap the 'Connect' button for your watch.

  6. Make sure your watch is showing as 'Connected'.

My Pebble says I'm disconnected from my phone, but I'm still receiving notifications.

You're not mistaken! This is due to how iOS handles connection to your Pebble. When initially pairing your watch to your iPhone, two connections are established:

  1. One for notifications and media playback

  2. Another for watchfaces, watchapps, dictation services, and everything else

The first connection, which is handled by iOS, doesn't need the Pebble app to communicate with your watch. If your Pebble is in Bluetooth range with your phone, you'll be able to receive notifications and control media playback (via the Music app), even without the app running. The second connection, which is what your watch uses to determine if it is connected or not, handles everything related to your watchfaces, watchapps, voice-to-text services, and more. This may be lost if the Pebble app is force-closed or turned off by iOS, which will cause you to be 'Disconnected'. To reconnect, open the Pebble app and tap 'Connect' next to your watch.

How to re-pair your watch

If none of the above troubleshooting steps are working, try the following:

  1. In the Pebble mobile app, head to the Devices tab, then tap your watch, then 'Forget'. If you don't see an option to do so, that's okay! Just proceed to step 2.

  2. Go to your iPhone's settings, then Bluetooth. Delete/Unpair all Pebble and Core watches.

  3. Complete the applicable:

    1. If your watch is showing a QR code, hold Back + Up + Select until you see a progress bar on-screen.

    2. If your watch is booted into PebbleOS, go to Settings β†’ Bluetooth and forget your phone. Restart your watch by holding down the left button for 10 seconds

  4. Power your phone back on

  5. Open the mobile app, go to Devices and press the + button

  6. Wait for your device to connect. There should be a pop-up that asks if you want to see notifications on your watch.

  7. With your watch connected, submit a bug report and tell us what happened!

How do I use my Rebble subscription with the new Pebble app?

You don't! Voice and weather services are provided for free with the new Pebble app. Pebble + Core Devices has no affiliation with the Rebble monthly/yearly subscription.

My Pebble Classic or Pebble Steel won't appear in the Pebble app, but appears in my phone's Bluetooth settings for pairing.

The new Pebble app will only connect with watches running firmware version v3.x and above. On certain Pebble Classic and Pebble Steel watches this may pose an issue and require that you update your watch with the older/legacy Pebble app first, then install the new Pebble app and connect that way. You can follow this guide to get you set up: https://help.rebble.io/setup-ios/#1

My watch resets to 12:00AM 01/01/1970 after a shutdown.

Hardware limitations for Pebble 2 Duo, Time 2, and Round 2 prevent it from keeping time when completely powered off. System time will be restored after a connection to your phone is established again.

My watch is showing fe504504, what do I do?

  1. On your watch, hold the Back + Up + Select keys for ~10 seconds or until your watch displays a progress bar.

  2. Go to the Pebble mobile app and forget your device. Close the app.

  3. In iOS Bluetooth settings, forget your watch.

  4. Reopen the Pebble app and tap + to repair.
