All COROS devices with the latest firmware support the CORE Sensor and can be paired via bluetooth. After setting-up the first time, the COROS device automatically connects to the CORE.
COROS devices display:
Realtime display of the core body temperature
Realtime display of the Heat Strain Index with the Heat Zones
Realtime display of the skin temperature
Maximum core body temperature
Minimum core body temperature
Average core body temperature
In the session summary you can see the:
Maximum core body temperature
Minimum core body temperature
Average core body temperature
After completing the activity and synching it with your COROS mobile app, you can see a core body temperature graph in the analysis section. More thermal data will be come in the future.
The COROS device also records all your thermal data (core body temperature, Heat Strain Index, skin temperature) to FIT files. So you can look at it in apps like Trainingpeaks or others.
Compatibility
The CORE sensor is fully compatible with most COROS devices, including the DURA bike computer:
COROS NOMAD
COROS DURA
COROS PACE Pro
COROS VERTIX 2S
COROS Pace 3
COROS APEX 2
Older COROS models still support the connectivity to the CORE sensor with the core body temperature metrics, including the session overview values.
COROS and CORE Sensor Set-up Guide
Ensure you have the latest apps and firmware for both the CORE sensor and the COROS device. When starting the set-up, the CORE sensor should be charged, shake it and check that it is on (green blinking lights) and keep it close to the COROS watch.
Step 1 - Bluetooth Pairing
On the COROS device, go into the system settings:
System > Accessories > Add Bluetooth
The watch will find the CORE sensor which can be selected and paired.
Step 2 - Setup Data Fields
A) Open the COROS App and select the COROS device. Choose "Activity Settings" and then the activity where you would like to include the CORE data fields. You can adjust the "Activity Data Pages" as you prefer.
B) In the bottom menu you can add full screens or edit the data fields:
(live) core body temperature
(live) Heat Strain (HSI with Heat Zones indication)
(live) skin temperature
(session) max core body temperature
(session) min core body temperature
(session) avg core body temperature
Setup is now complete
Have fun training.
Other Notes and Tips
Bluetooth
The CORE sensor and COROS watches connect via Bluetooth. The CORE sensor allows three simultaneous Bluetooth connections (for example, the COROS sensor can connect to the CORE App and the COROS watch and a treadmill).
COROS heart rate monitors (worn on the upper arm) also only allow three simultaneous Bluetooth connections. They don't support ANT+. Take this into account when pairing a COROS heart rate monitor to CORE.
In the case the CORE sensor is not identified, it could be connected to another device. Disconnect or turn off the Bluetooth for those to 'release' this connection.
Activities with the CORE sensor
Tip: Wear the CORE sensor 10 minutes before starting an activity so that it can adjust and recording accurate temperature when you start the activity.
When starting a new activity, the data fields on the COROS device may initially display --,--. Typically within 15 seconds, the COROS device will then display the core body temperature data.
