Troubleshooting Long Load Times on Corksy

Having issues with Corksy loading slowly? This article walks you through how to identify and resolve long load times.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If Corksy is taking too long to load, there are several potential causes—from internet speed and browser issues to hardware limitations. This article will help you troubleshoot and improve performance so you can get back to running your business without interruption.

1. Check Your Internet Speed

A slow or unstable internet connection is one of the most common culprits.

How to Check:

  • Run a test and review your Download and Upload Speeds

Recommended Speeds:

  • Minimum: 10 Mbps download / 5 Mbps upload

  • Optimal: 50+ Mbps download / 10+ Mbps upload

If your speeds are low:

  • Restart your router or modem

  • Move closer to your Wi-Fi router

  • Switch to a wired (Ethernet) connection if possible

  • Test on a mobile hotspot to compare

2. Evaluate Your Device and Hardware

Outdated or overloaded devices can significantly slow down performance.

Check:

  • Is your computer running multiple programs at once?

  • Is RAM or CPU usage running high? (Use Activity Monitor on Mac or Task Manager on Windows)

  • Is your operating system up to date?

Recommendations:

  • Close unused applications and tabs

  • Restart your device regularly

  • Use a device with 8GB RAM or higher

  • For mobile usage, we recommend iPads newer than the 8th generation for best performance

3. Use a Supported and Updated Browser

Corksy is optimized for Google Chrome, but we understand some clients use Safari. Here's how to troubleshoot both.

For Google Chrome:

  • Ensure it is updated (Settings > About Chrome)

  • Clear cache: Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data

  • Disable browser extensions

  • Test in Incognito Mode to isolate extension interference

For Safari (Mac users):

  • Ensure Safari is up to date (System Preferences > Software Update)

  • Clear website data:

    • Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove All

  • Disable extensions: Safari > Settings > Extensions

  • Disable “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking”: Safari > Settings > Privacy

  • Test in Private Browsing Mode

  • Note: Safari may experience slower performance with certain back-office tools. If issues persist, try switching to Chrome for improved speed.

4. Compare Across Websites or Devices

  • Are other websites (e.g. YouTube, Gmail) also loading slowly?

  • Open Corksy on another device or browser

  • Try accessing Corksy using a different internet connection (mobile hotspot, home Wi-Fi)

This helps narrow down whether the issue is device, browser, or network related.

5. Run a Network Load Test (Advanced)

For tech-savvy users:

  • Open Developer Tools in your browser (Right-click > Inspect > Network tab)

  • Reload the Corksy page and look for:

    • Any failed network requests

    • Files taking more than 2–3 seconds to load

Send screenshots or a short Loom video to Corksy Support if you're unsure what you're seeing.
