IS COSMIC KIDS TRAINING AN ACCREDITED QUALIFICATION?

Is this training a Yoga Alliance RCYT course?

Our training is an online course which will enable you to teach kids yoga professionally. It is recognised for Continuing Education credits with Yoga Alliance, but it is not a RCYT 90 hour training qualification.

If you want to do an RCYT with Yoga Alliance, you will need to do a 95 hour live face-to-face course and a further 30 hours of teaching practice. This is a big investment of time and money. You do not need to do this to teach kids yoga professionally!

To teach kids yoga professionally, you must do training which insurers trust so they will grant you professional liability cover. In most countries you'll also need to have a background criminal record check so you can work with kids.

Because of the quality of the teaching and our evaluation process, insurers all over the world recognise Cosmic Kids training. We developed our evaluation process with a specialist yoga insurer DSC Strand so that it would be simple for graduates to get insurance and teach professionally.

There are already over 1500 self-starting and independent kids yoga teachers teaching with a Cosmic Kids qualification.

For full certification, we require students to send in a video of them teaching a class. Jaime evaluates every video personally on a series of criteria as a requirement of certification. She gives encouraging one to one video feedback to every student trying to qualify, and most succeed.

We base much of our curriculum on Yoga Alliance guidelines and respect RCYT courses but we think what we offer is preferable in a number of ways.

For one thing, we are not time-constrained. Learners on a face to face course must learn at the pace of the slowest learner, and must watch other students demonstrate and receive feedback. Face to face courses also need to allow for breaks and manage energy. Online, we work at your pace. Consequently we are able to go deeper in certain areas than other courses (into performance in particular, which is the key to bringing kids with you) - so we believe the teaching is in fact more comprehensive than in face to face courses.

We make up for the social aspect of any face-to-face training with a very active (and lovely) global community of kids yoga teachers to which students get free membership (on a private Facebook group). All of these people are doing or have done the training. There are more than 1300 of us on there including Jaime - and we are all supportive and will provide you with the support you might need - for ideas, inspiration or just the reassurance you're doing the right thing.

For what it's worth, we are a little reluctant to pay self-styled accreditation bodies around the world for recognition. If you want to know more about why, you can read about it here.
